Gitche Gumee back in action at Warwick

Tom has three booked rides today at Warwick.

1:15 GITCHE GUMEE - Promising 4yo who is two from two; useful prospect who can defy a 7lb penalty.

Owner - John P McManus - Trainer - Alan King

Alan describes the JP McManus-owned Gitche Gumee as “an exciting horse”, and, having won his bumper at Kempton in the spring, the four-year-old, who lived up to expectations when landing his hurdling debut at Stratford last month, aims to defy a penalty at Warwick on Wednesday.

“He is a fine, big horse and he was impressive at Stratford, but we plan to take our time with him,” said Alan, who will hopefully learn more here.

1:45 ERNEST GRAY - Disappointed in Grade 2 bumper in April but won by 13l here in March; interesting.

Owner - Andy Peake - Trainer - Alan King

We also have Ernest Gray making his jumping debut at Warwick, and he is another youngster whom Alan likes.

Alan added:”He was an impressive winner of a bumper there in the spring but then got outpaced on good ground at Aintree. However, he has schooled well and we are looking forward to seeing how he shapes first time over hurdles and the forecast rain would be a bonus if it materialises.”

3:45 ON SE CALME - Made all in Irish point six months ago; has joined a major stable.

Owner - G C Myddelton - Trainer - Alan King

On Se Calme makes her Rules debut in the mares bumper. She is an Irish point-to-point winner whom Alan says is “a great mover who has done everything we have asked so far.”
