Newbury

Tom has three booked rides today at Newbury

1:55 LORD BADDESLEY - Solid second at Chepstow then went one better at Plumpton; not dismissed.

Owners - Richard & Mrs Carol Cheshire - Trainer - Chris Gordon

This boy was fourth in last seasons, Betfair Hurdle at this venue and was a solid second

at Chepstow (2m3f, strong form) on his seasonal reappearance and then went one better

with an emphatic win at Plumpton over 2m4f last time out.

A strong race today but has a great chance.

3:05 POTTERMAN - Failed to complete in the last two runnings of this contest; headgear enlisted.

Owners - James & Jean Potter Ltd - Trainer - Alan King

It’s seven years since Smad Place won the race which most professionals still refer to as the Hennessy, and, while Potterman, Barbury’s representative in the Newbury Coral-sponsored feature tomorrow, is at least six times the price Smad Place was, Alan is hopeful that our fellow will outrun his odds.

Alan said:”Potterman pleased me on his seasonal debut when finishing sixth in the Badger Beer Chase at Wincanton, where he slipped at the second fence and took a while to regain his confidence.

“Potterman stayed on up the straight, but the way he shaped we thought he might benefit from a headgear, so he schooled in a visor on Monday and looked sharp. He’ll wear it for the first time tomorrow, and, though he’ll need to improve plenty on Wincanton, the visor might help him become a contender.”

3:40 ONLY MONEY - Held on soft last time; record of 3-5 on good ground over fences; remains of interest.

Owners - D S Dennis - Trainer - Chris Gordon

The soft surface probably contributed to his defeat at Aintree three weeks ago when finishing 3rd, but has otherwise been progressive over fences and he's 3 from 5 on

good ground in this sphere which he will get today. Has run well at this track before

finishing 2nd so fingers crossed for another nice run.
